#7: The Heat of the Stone

• The Concept: The high desert at peak friction—where the sun hits the range so hard the rock vibrates with light. It isn’t a complex interior thought; it is the simple, stinging energy of the land at noon.
• The Presence: I wanted to capture the “bones” of the land through the weight of the pastel. There is an uncomplicated honesty in how these peaks sit against the sky. By digging the pigment into the paper, I’ve moved past the “pretty landscape” to find the solid, unshakeable presence of the earth itself.
• The Vibe: Hot, bold, and fundamentally grounded.
